Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiyam chief Kamal Haasan sparked a row with his remark that “Kannada is born out of Tamil” during a promotional event for Thug Life in Chennai. After pro-Kannada groups threatened to boycott his film and demanded an apology, Kamal responded: “If I’m wrong, I will apologise. If not, I won’t,” he said. He added that his comments were made out of love for languages and history, and slammed those trying to distort his remarks for an agenda. Kamal also defended Tamil Nadu’s inclusive past, pointing to CMs from varied linguistic and ethnic backgrounds. The actor, recently nominated to the Rajya Sabha by DMK, said threats won’t shake him, citing past intimidation.#kamalhaasan #thuglife #kannadacontroversy #tamilvskannada #languagepolitics #rajyasabha #dmk #mnm #thuglifemovie #southcinema #toibharat
