Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Gujarat Giants (GG) by 5 wickets in their Women's Premier League (WPL) faceoff at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday (February 18). After asking GG to bat first, MI first bowled them out for 120 in 20 overs on the back of a clinical bowling performance led by Hayley Matthews who finished with figures of 3 for 16. Amelia Kerr and Nat Sciver-Brunt chipped in with 2 wickets apiece. The English all-rounder wasn't done yet. She then came out with the bat and scored a solid 39-ball 57 to help MI wrap up the chase with 23 balls to spare and taste their first win in the 2025 edition. MI had succumbed to a last-ball defeat to Delhi Capitals in their season opener. Harleen Deol lone warrior with the bat for Gujarat It was an underwhelming display with the bat for Gujarat. Barring Harleen Deol who showed some fight with her 31-ball 32, there was no one else who put on a fight. Kashvee Gautam was the only other batter who scored 20 or more. With the ball, Tanuja Kanwar, Priya Mishra picked up a wicket each for Gujarat with Kashvee taking 2 wickets but they just did not have enough runs on the board, especially considering the dew in the second half of the fixture. Who will the teams face next? While MI will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their next match on February 21 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, GG will meet Delhi in their next match on February 25.Original Article
