Shares of Titagarh Rail Systems rallied up to 3% to the day’s high of Rs 858 against the previous closing of Rs 831 on NSE after Indian Railways approval for traction motor supply.

According to a filing with the exchange on Wednesday, the company has been included in the approved vendor category of Indian Railways for supply of three-phase asynchronous traction motor type 6FRA-6068 for three-phase locomotives, with an approved capacity of 1,200 numbers per annum for the company.

The approval is effective from August 19 and the said approval is expected to further strengthen the company's presence in the locomotive equipment segment and enable it to participate in procurement opportunities for the aforesaid traction motors, subject to applicable tender conditions, orders and supply requirements of Indian Railways.

The filing further said that the financial impact of the aforesaid development cannot be ascertained at this stage and will depend upon the orders received and the corresponding supply schedules.

Titagarh Rail Systems Q1 results

On Friday, the company declared its Q1FY27 earnings and the revenue from operations were reported at Rs 735 crore up from Rs 674 crore in the same time period last year. The EBITDA was reported at Rs 94 crore and the EBITDA margin was reported at 12.79%.

The profit after tax was reported at Rs 52 crore up from Rs 43 crore in Q1FY26. Under the Passenger Rolling Stock segment, nearly 30 coaches dispatched in the quarter; highest ever quarterly PRS revenue. Order book of 491 metro coaches and 1,280 Vande Bharat coaches, at June 30, 2026. Also includes 74 propulsion sets and 72 traction motors (excluding option)

Under Freight Rolling Stock segment, order book of 5,300 wagons for Indian Railways and private customers, at June 30, 2026 and monthly run-rate can be upscaled to 1,000 wagons once new Railway tenders are awarded.

The shares went up 1.64% in the last one year. The stock was up 40.37% in the last three years and 68.69% in the last five years.
